Kimo Carvalho

Kimo Carvalho is the Director of Community Relations for IHS, The Institute for Human Services – Hawaii’s oldest, largest and most comprehensive homeless service provider. In his capacity, Kimo is the spokesperson for the agency. Additionally, his team operates IHS’ communications, marketing, fundraising and government relation programs. His background started as a Paramedic working for the City of New Orleans and as a Disaster Medical Provider during Hurricane Katrina. After leaving Tulane Medical School in 2007, Kimo returned home to begin a career in public relations. He’s assisted in some of Hawaii’s landmark initiatives, including the inscription of the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument as a World Heritage Site and the development of the Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative. Kimo holds a B.S. from Tulane University, an MBA from Hawaii Pacific University, is an East-West Center Journalism Fellow, and is one of PBN’s 40 under 40 Class of 2015.
